|
Egmont UK, the UK’s largest specialist publisher of children’s magazines and books, today announces a magazine deal with the popular children’s TV programme Blast Lab, fronted by Richard Hammond, represented by DCD Publishing and produced by DCD-owned September Films.
The BBC2 and CBBC BAFTA-winning show will be featured in a special issue of Egmont’s Allabout... magazine series in May. The issue will be jam-packed with bizarre science experiments, mad inventions and crazy quizzes for kids to try at home.
This deal with Egmont will be the first time Blast Lab has taken its content into magazine format and will support the TV and online presence of the show.
Michael Gottlieb Head of Licensing, DCD Publishing said: “Blast Lab is a fantastic DCD Publishing property that will transfer into magazine content brilliantly. We are delighted to be teaming up with Egmont for this project as their insight into how to communicate with 8-12 years olds through the print format is second to none, and we are delighted with the way the magazine has captured the fun and energy of the show on the page.”
In the 24 page Blast Lab issue of Allabout, readers will learn how to make their own magic slime that can turn from liquid to solid and back again, build an electric buzz box to test their friends’ reflexes and make an exploding volcano in their own kitchen.
Allabout… is a monthly magazine series from Egmont that dedicates its content to a different children’s brand every issue. The May issue, on sale 21 April, will mark the first time Blast Lab has been represented in magazine form. Blast Lab is an acclaimed game show for 8-12 year olds set in the surreal world of Richard Hammond’s secret laboratory. Each episode sees two teams of friends go head to head in an entertaining and anarchic contest blending science, machines, inventions and experiments.
Allabout… Blast Lab will go on sale with three unmissable gifts in the form of an H20 Blaster for some supersonic soaking, awesome stickers from the show and a kit that will show readers how to build their own cardboard model of Richard’s marvellous motor, Oliver.
Siobhan Galvin , Publisher, said: “We are thrilled to announce this tie up with Blast Lab. The TV show is incredibly popular and full of creative ideas that can be converted into engaging and colourful magazine content. Our expertise in communicating with the Blast Lab audience is evidenced by the success of our brand magazine Toxic, which is read by 46,543 kids every issue. We hope this special issue will be the start of a beautiful friendship with the Blast Lab team.”
Richard Hammond’s Blast Lab is a DCD/September Films & Hamster’s Wheel production for BBC2/CBBC.
A second season 26 new episodes is due to air later this year. |
