DCD Media has won over US$11.7m worth of U.S. business after orders from American cable networks WEtv, A&E and TLC to its transatlantic reality, factual entertainment and formats specialist September Films.
WEtv has commissioned Season 7 of its flagship reality wedding series Bridezillas which DCD-owned September Films will produce out of its LA office in Hollywood. In addition to 22 x 60-minute episodes to air from June 2010, the women's channel has ordered a further 2-hour premiere and a 1-hour highlight special - its biggest order to date of the network's all-time highest rated series.
The 25x60-minute order brings the franchise up to total of 127 hours – to be distributed internationally by DCD Rights. The first 102 hours have so far sold to over 50 territories, making Bridezillas DCD’s biggest selling international brand ever. Season 7 was commissioned by Danielle Ostroske and Theresa Patiri for WEtv, and is executive produced by Laura Halperin and David Green for DCD-owned September Films.
Meanwhile, A&E has ordered an extended second season of The Exterminators, the network’s hit original real life series about the zaniest pest removal company on the planet, which follows Billy, the young and charismatic boss of VEXCON, and his family members as they are called to take care of Louisiana's worst pest problems. Following the success of Season 1 (13x30’) earlier this year, September Films is to produce 20x30-minute new episodes to air in 2010.
Drew Lesser and Sheldon Lazarus are Executive Producers for DCD-owned September Films and the series was commissioned by Elaine Frontain Bryant for A&E.
US Cable network TLC has also commissioned DCD-owned September Films to produce Mall Cops: Mall Of America, a new behind-the-scenes real-life documentary that uncovers the secrets of America’s largest mall through the eyes of the men and women assigned to guard its stores and shoppers: the mall cops.
The one hour film was commissioned by Rita Mullin for TLC and executive produced by Sheldon Lazarus and Peter Davey for DCD-owned September Films.
David Green, DCD Media’s Acting CEO and Chief Creative Officer commented: “DCD’s headlong surge into the American reality TV marketplace is the biggest driver of the group’s growth. These weighty commissions come as another DCD producer, live music and event specialist Done and Dusted, has been re-commissioned to produce the stellar Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show for CBS, including this year a brand new worldwide model search, and has had tremendous ratings success with their recent Neil Diamond special on the same network”. |
