DCD Rights Inks US and UK deals for Australian drama series

DCD Rights Inks US and UK deals for Australian drama series

International distributor DCD Rights announces that Australia’s drama series Mr & Mrs Murder has been acquired by Channel 5 in the UK for transmission in 2014.

In addition, Sky Living in the UK and U.S. online video service Hulu have snapped A Moody Christmas for transmission in the run up to Christmas 2013.

13 x 60’ murder mystery series, Mr & Mrs Murder, produced by FremantleMedia Australia (FMA) and Bravado Productions, stars Shaun Micallef and Kat Stewart as Charlie and Nicola Buchanan, crime scene cleaners whose unique quirks and talents solve the most baffling murder mysteries.

The series transmitted to critical acclaim on Network TEN earlier this year and has previously sold to numerous territories including USA, Eastern Europe, India, Africa, Israel, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Middle East, and Asia.

6 part comedy series A Moody Christmas (6 x 30’ / HD / DVD, Jungleboys for ABC1) focuses on the lovable, yet seasonally dysfunctional Moody family, and is set against the backdrop of the one occasion that can bring out the best (and the worst) in people: Christmas Day. Shot in Sydney, and starring Ian Meadows (Paper Giants: The Birth of Cleo) and Patrick Brammall (Hawke), each half hour episode is set a year apart. The series aired in late 2012 on ABC Australia.

The series was previously sold to New Zealand, Russia, CIS, India, Eastern Europe, Africa, Turkey and Middle East, and a second season of the popular comedy has been commissioned for transmission in 2014 which DCD Rights will launch to international buyers.

DCD Rights’ drama catalogue includes other award winning Australian drama such The Slap, The Straits, Rake, An Accidental Soldier and The Strange Calls.

DCD Rights attends NATPE 27-29 Jan 2014, Miami on stand 300 (British Pavilion).
