DCD Publishing Signs Publishing and Clothing Licenses for the Duchess of Northumberland

DCD Publishing announces that it has agreed publishing and clothing licenses for creator of Alnwick Castle’s Poison Garden, The Duchess of Northumberland.

The History Press will publish two new giftbooks The Duchess of Northumberland’s Little Book of Preserves and Jams and The Duchess of Northumberland’s Little Book of Poisons and Potions in early Summer 2013.

Further titles based on the extensive archive of material housed at Alnwick Castle, will follow, covering all aspects of the life and history of the 700-year-old iconic estate, from farming and shooting, entertaining, etiquette, history, cookery and gardening.

Stuart Biles, CEO, The History Press, commented: “As a market leader in our specialist field devoted to heritage and history, we look forward to a long and fruitful publishing collaboration with the Duchess of Northumberland”.

Alan Paine will produce a range of country clothing under the brand Duchess of Northumberland. The Duchess Collection currently in development for Autumn/Winter 2013 will include a broad range of garments, new designs and fabrics. It follows the launch earlier this year of the Capsule Collection, created in collaboration with the Duchess, including Ladies Knitwear, Jacket, Skirt and Waistcoat which sold through retail, online and specialist independent.

James Hinton, Managing Director, Alan Paine Knitwear Ltd, said: “The Alan Paine brand is well-known worldwide for quality knitwear and country wear. When the opportunity arose to collaborate with the Duchess of Northumberland we embraced it wholeheartedly. We saw it as the coming together of two great British institutions both steeped in history and rich in heritage. We look forward to growing our strong partnership and developing the collection over the forthcoming seasons to become an internationally recognised range”.

Adrian Sington, CEO, DCD Publishing, commented: “We are delighted with these first deals that form part of a major brand strategy combining the licenses from the Duchess of Northumberland into a potent new presence in the licensing marketplace both nationally and internationally”.
